College Leadership Excellence (CLE) program

Colleges Ontario and the College Employer Council are pleased to announce a new jointly-offered College Leadership Excellence program.

Purpose of the program: The College Leadership Excellence program will provide leaders in senior middle management, who are interested in pursuing senior management roles in the college system, with specific knowledge and skills to increase their preparation for future senior management positions.

Target group: The CLE program is targeted to those persons who are looking to move from senior middle management to senior management including:

  • Associate vice presidents
  • Deans
  • Associate deans
  • Directors
  • Chiefs [includes, CFOs, CIOs, CHROs, etc]
  • Registrars
  • College chair [academic, department]

Others who may also wish to participate in the CLE Program include:

  • Vice Presidents
  • Senior Vice Presidents

The CLE program will consist of four (4) mandatory sessions and eight (8) elective sessions. Each elective session will count as either one or two credits towards the College Leadership Excellence Certificate. Delegates will need to attend all the mandatory sessions and complete six or more elective credits in order to qualify for the CLE Certificate.

It is anticipated that delegates would take one to two years to complete the certificate. Sessions must be completed within two years from the first session taken. Sessions taken outside this time period will not be recognized. A table summarizing the program sessions can be found below.

Note: The CLE program is a 2-year pilot program. If the CLE program is terminated after year two, Colleges Ontario and the College Employer Council will enable any delegates with partial certificate completions to complete their CLE Certificate by accessing additional College Centre of Board Excellence (CCBE) sessions and having these recognized by the CLE program.

How to register for the College Leadership Excellence program

This new CLE program is available to Ontario colleges through the purchase of a College Leadership Excellence package. The CLE package can be purchased for $895 plus taxes through the Higher Education Summit (HES) registration website.

The College Leadership Excellence package includes:

  • One full two-day Higher Education Summit registration (must be used within 2 years of purchase)
  • All mandatory and elective webinars
  • One registration at the Leadership symposium (must be used within 2 years of purchase)
  • A printed copy of the Manual for Effective College Governance and a link to the online, searchable version

Once the package has been purchased, the delegate will be provided with links to all available webinar and in-person session registrations.

Digital copies of the College Leadership Excellence program are available in English and French.
